Henry Doss, Chief Operating Officer & Executive-in-Residence
Henry Doss is a business consultant focusing on complex, challenging opportunities requiring high levels of personal commitment. He is a principal with Avenue ISR, a consumer research and business strategy practice based in Traverse City, MI and also serves as executive-in-residence with T2VC, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm. Henry works in affiliation with Decision Support Sciences on larger-scale projects related to technology, data mining, research and database modeling. Henry’s core strengths are consumer research and branding; sales management and sales technologies; product development; strategy alignment; lifecycle management/CRM; and executive coaching. He enjoys tackling issues that have been historically difficult for organizations, and finding pragmatic solutions.
Henry has over twenty-five years of experience, primarily in banking and financial services. Prior to forming his own businesses, he served as Senior Vice President, Retail Banking, with PNC Financial Services and Senior Vice President, Sales and Service, with First Union National Bank.
During his banking career Henry focused on financial services sales practices, Total Quality Management, data mining and product/branding strategies. He managed large-scale technology projects, including system design and roll out, and large, diverse sales forces. He has considerable expertise in all areas of sales leadership, sales force automation, sales practices, incentives, training, and sales management. He has a broad, generalist background in consumer research and the application of research findings to strategy. Henry has conceived, developed and implemented large-scale branding and operational alignment efforts in both telecommunications and banking. He has led a number of business restructurings, including performance due diligence, business plan design, and capital sourcing.
In addition to his professional activities, Henry has served in volunteer leadership positions with organizations including: UNC Charlotte, (past President, Alumni Board of Governors; currently Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Arts and Sciences); Habitat for Humanity; Olivet College (Trustee); The Charlotte, NC, Chamber of Commerce; The United Negro College Fund; and Project Head Start. He currently serves as President, Board of Directors, The National Committee for the New River and board member of Advantage West – The Western North Carolina Regional Economic Development Commission. He chairs the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Alliance, and is a board member of the Ashe County Arts Council. He also serves as a volunteer for Hospice, providing family and patient support services.
Henry’s passion is music. Two of Henry’s original recordings achieved Top 40 status on national adult contemporary radio charts. He performs occasionally as both a solo singer-songwriter and with his band.
